High Quality Handmade Soap

What does one mean by high quality handmade soaps? This is a question that should be asked anytime a company use high quality to describe their product. Well it can mean different things from different companies. For WGB Soap Company the meaning is based on two components. The two components are quality raw materials and the soap making process.
When creating soap, the oils which are used are essential to giving the soap bar its marketable properties. That is why the makers of a good quality soap bar should carefully select and research what oils they want to use. Succor Handmade Soap Bars are made with a combination of oils which are selected because they are beneficial to the skin. This also should be taken into consideration when selecting exfoliants to add to a soap formulation. A high-quality handmade soap manufacturer should not short change the consumer by being overly concerned with making a cost-effective bar that will increase their profits while decreasing the quality of there product. Now that the quality of raw material has been brought up, let’s move on to the actual process.
Soap is made through the chemical reaction known as saponification. However, many handmade soap makers decide to skip this step. They figure the consumer is not going to be able to tell the difference and the manufacturer will be able to improve their efficiency. Some handmade soap makers make their soap bars through a process known as melt and pour. This is when a soap base is already made and is melted down to be customized. By doing this the manufacturer gets to skip a very time-consuming step. After saponification lye or Sodium Hydroxide is present in the bar of soap so therefore it must undergo a curing process. This curing process take about four to six weeks. Using the melt and pour technique the soap manufacturer can make bars of soap much faster, but quality is sacrificed. The act of melting soap and letting it solidify yields a bar that will not last a long as one that is cured. Manufacturers who use the melt and pour technique are not making handmade soaps, in my opinion, but artisan soap bars only because they themselves are not preforming the saponification process.
The use of the words high quality is an excellent marketing tool that is used to sell to the consumer. There is nothing wrong with the usage, if the product is true to the description. So, the next time you see a product being described as high quality also look for the explanation for what is meant.
